..Hong Kong getaway.. Part 2

Sasa shopping in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong island

Second part of my little getaway to Hong Kong!
Although I could only stay for 5 days, I really wanted to do the following:
  1. Hike the Hong Kong trail (see previous entry)
  2. Eat at my favourite sushi chain (see previous entry)
  3. Get cute gifts for Christmas
  4. Refill my make-up vanity
  5. Get inspiration for my next dress-up games and check the latest fashion trends

Cute gifts

Generally speaking, I find it hard to buy 'small presents' in France or UK other than food such as wine, chocolate boxes and tea. Anything else starts to be quite expensive when you want to offer brands or good quality gifts (scarfs, jewels, etc.)

In Japan and Pacific Asia on the contrary there are so many mascots and cute things. You can not lack inspiration!Lately my friends are really into LINE, the Asian version of Whatsapp with cute characters such as Cony the rabbit and Brown the bear.

So naturally when I found these...

LINE character plushies selling in La Foret (Causeway Bay, Hong Kong island)

La Foret shopping mall looks like an outlet with a lot of designer shops. Despite its name and unlike Sogo, the mall is specialized in Asian stuffs and has a lot of shops dedicated to Japan, Korea, etc. It's definitely a must-go when you visit Hong Kong!
How to go there:

Fashion trend watch

Unfortunately I didn't have time to try any regional brand, so I just wandered around. I felt totally in love with this shop in La Foret, called Sugarman. Yes I know the clothes are made for kids below 5 years old, but when I see them I feel like doing a chibi dress-up game with very colorful and hip-popish items (most people would probably think of having kids instead haha).

So cute and colorful

Make-up hold-up

Last but not least, cosmetics hold-up at Sasa!! Sasa offers huge variety of beauty & health care products and can be found in numerous areas of the city, a bit like Boots in the UK and Sephora in France, except that you can find both Western and Asia brands there

I could easily stay a day in Sasa but I managed to buy everything in less than 1 hour!
  • Dolly Wink Black Mascara 02 Volume special set
  • Dolly Wink Eyelashes 10 Sweet Cat & 11 Pure Sweet
  • Dolly Wink Eyelash fix
  • B & C Browlash Ex Water Strong Liner (Deep Brown)
  • Narisup Long Lasting Eyebrow Powder (Dark Brown)
  • Angel Aqua Moisture CC Cream
  • 10 x random aburatorigami (oil blotting paper) - because I can't find any good brand in Europe!

I also managed to get a bunch of green tea products and Koala's March (Lotte) at a random Seven Eleven store. A colleague also gave me some snacks and face masks she brought back from Seoul.

..Apologies! Game release delayed a lil bit..

Uaaa sorry I'm late!!!

Last month was quite a busy month for me
and I didn't realize that some people were
waiting for my next dress up game...

Really?!

I hope it will be worth waiting! I am actually
having troubles with the Facebook export stuff,
so it may not be available in the final game
(the whole process is over complicated now)...

ugrrr

But otherwise you will have more than 200 items
to play with, 3 different lolita themes, skin colours, etc.

Oh and I am also thinking about hosting an outfit
contest on koruldiagames.deviantart.com

The most creative outfit will win a cute prize!

See you soon!!

【Release info】Sweet Lolita MEGA DRESS UP

YES! A new dress up game is coming soon

And it's what I call a mega dress up game,
meaning you can play with more than 200 items

I put a lot of work into the menu and its polishing,
making sure it's smooth enough and intuitive.

And as always, I tried to add a few new features,
this time it will be a character card/ID maker...
and a button to share the outfit to Facebook!

Game information:

Some items are also inspired by the gothic version of
this trend, Gothic Lolita (ゴスロリ, gosuloli).

..Being an Oiran 花魁変身..

One funny thing I did in Kyoto... I became an Oiran for a day!
I can hardly recognize myself in the pictures though...

And yes it's really me!

Oiranって? Wikipedia attack:
Oiran (花魁) were courtesans in Japan. The oiran were considered a type of yūjo (遊女) "woman of pleasure" or prostitute. However, they are distinguished from the yūjo in that they were entertainers, and many became celebrities of their times outside the pleasure districts. Their art and fashions often set trends among the wealthy and, because of this, cultural aspects of oiran traditions continue to be preserved to this day.

I think a lot of people tend to confuse Geisha for Oiran...
I wasn't very clear myself until I saw the movie Sakuran, starring Anna Tsuchiya ... A very nice movie. Definitly recommend! And I love Anna Tsuchiya, she always plays strong women. She is gorgeous in real life too, I was lucky enough to touch her hand during a live show

Nowadays Oiran henshin is very popular because:
1- kimono used are usually more beautiful and more glamourous
2- the general outfit is more sexy and you can do some pretty sexy photoshots

So I went to the traditional area of Kyoto...

And after 40 minutes make-up and dressing...

I also met 2 maiko-san (apprentice geisha)...

Notice the difference of hair, obi (belt with front lace) and kimono!

They were going out after the picture. Usually you can keep the maiko outfit for the day and visit Kyoto. I imagine a lot of people and especially foreign tourists can confuse them for real maiko-san and chase them for a picture haha!

As I chose Oiran, I could not get out (Oiran were not supposed to go out anyway, they would wait for customers in the main house), so I did a few modelling pictures with the photographer

I like the last one a lot! Even Oiran need to keep up with technology!
